Rebecca’s Lyric Poem

A week after my wife, Terri, passed away my children headed back out into the real world as they went back to school. One of the assignments that my 13 year old, 7th grade daughter, Rebecca was given, along with her class, was to write a lyric poem. A lyric poem is basically a short poem that expresses the feelings of the writer. Rebecca knew immediately what feelings that she wanted to express with the passing of her mother. In this poem Rebecca shares her honest struggle with the sudden, shocking loss her mother as well as her faith and trust in God. May you learn what true faith is as I have in meditating upon her powerful, heartfelt words.

She’s gone.
It happened in a flash,
leaving everything behind.
Confusion swept over me.
For I know she has a new, better life
but, I can’t believe it.
Not now.
I can’t wait to see her.
Listen to her explain everything.
But, until I get there:
I must trust in God.

WOW! WHAT MORE CAN BE SAID. I LOST MY MOM AT A VERY YOUNG AGE ALSO. WAS NOT RAISED IN A CHRISTIAN HOME AND DID NOT HAVE ANY FAITH IN GOD GROWING UP. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU REBECCA. BLESS YOU!
